2019. 09. 28..
The tournament known as the NIF Cup was organised this year for the sixth time by Promosport Kft. for the sponsors of the Infrastructure Cup sporting event. Colas triumphed in three of the five tournaments so far – no wonder our squad arrived to the Ikarus BSE sporting facility on 28 September 2019 as title holders. In addition to three gold medals, the team had a bronze from 2017, and – as it turned out – this year saw us complete the medal collection. At the group draw, we ended up in the same group with Swietelsky Magyarország and Strabag, as well as two sides we had not met on the pitch before: MobilTrans and ProfiBagger. We started against the two newcomers with a 2-0 and a confident 7-0 triumph, and further results in the group stage were also reassuring. In the intense clash against Swietelsky Magyarország, we won 1-0 with a goal from Győző Balla, and we beat Strabag 3-0. This meant that we went on to the quarter finals from first place with 12 points and a clean sheet. Since the number of participants doubled since last year, the 15 sides were divided into three groups, and the pair-up between group winners and the best runner-ups (Ke-Víz 21, V-Híd, Colas and Strabag) were decided through another draw. We were drawn together with R-Kord, who we managed to overcome 1-0. In the semi-final, we took to the pitch to face Terra-21, who previously beat Strabag. The two squads were familiar with each other from previous tournaments, and normal time ended in a goalless draw. Without any extra time, the match went into a penalty shootout according to the rules. The first three pairs of seven-metre shots brought no decision, and it took five pairs of penalties going into the sudden death stage to decide the winner, and Colas ultimately clinched a spot in the final. We were matched up against the team of Ke-Víz 21, who are widely considered one of the strongest teams of the NIF Cups. This year was no exception, and they took home the gold with a 2-0 win. At the bronze match held simultaneously with the final, Swietelsky Vasúttechnika beat the Terra 21 team 3-2.
