Saab meeting on the M0
The Hungarian Friends of High-performance Saabs picked the M0’s southern sector as the venue for their summer meeting.
On 21 June, 17 – mostly tuned-up – Saabs occupied the then unopened straight near the Halásztelek interchange to match up their horses on the Colas-built concrete pavement of the M0 motorway ring.
This was not the first occasion we had special vehicles on the M0: two years ago, a 240 bhp electric-powered Porsche Carrera 997 raced up and down the unopened motorway section. This time, mostly two-litre Saab 9-3s and 9-5s held a series of drag races on the work site, amidst safe circumstances. Among the performance cars, we had a 340 bhp 9-3 Turbo X, a 435 bhp 9-5 Aero, and a 9-3 SE churning out over 500 bhp. The odd one out was a 2.3-litre, 660 bhp Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8.
