D1 motorway, Czech Republic
Renovation works kicked off in 2016 on nearly the entire stretch of the 200-kilometre-long Prague-Brno stage of the Czech D1 motorway. The concrete pavement is being reconstructed in seven-kilometre-long segments, which entails the replacement of the complete roadbed, while engineering structures are not left out from the comprehensive remodelling either. The project is being realised with the involvement of the largest civil engineering firms – among them the Czech Colas subsidiary, which was trusted with the renovation of both carriageways on one of the seven-kilometre parts near the small town of Velké Meziříčí, located some 60 kilometres from Brno. Following their deployment to the site in August 2017 and the one-week-long assembly of the equipment, the seven-strong team of Colas Hungária successfully built the required trial section.

The machine was working in pair with the concrete paver of our Czech colleagues: our slipform SP 1600 installed the 22-centimetre-thick bottom layer, and the new SP 1500 of our Czech sister company was responsible for pulling the five-centimetre-thick top layer.
