Works started on Béke square

2020. 10. 21..

Surely, many of you can remember the times when after heavy rains Béke square was under water and it was impossible to go through it. In recent years, the heavy rainfall has often caused inconvenience. It was often so rainy that the area was called the lake of Angyalföld. While the name sounds nice, probably not many people cling to the condition that comes with it. We have good news for those who wants to preserve this condition only as a nostalgic memory: on June 22, 2020, Colas Alterra Zrt. in consortium with SADE Magyarország Mélyépítő Kft. are beginning to expand the channel to 1.6 meters on 1200 meters. As a result, after the work is over, heavy rain should not be a problem for those living in the area and those who travel there in the future. The interesting thing about the project is that tools similar to drilling are used as in the construction of metro tunnels. In the first phase, the work started at Hajdú Street, here the traffic will be one-way until January 2021, the second phase then will continue from Frangepán Street to the square, the expected finish of the project is 2022. During the work, we ask for the patience and understanding of the residents and the users, keep in mind the goal to be achieved and the quality improvement in the lives of the residents and road users in the area.
