Budapest Complex Integrated Sewage Project (BKISZ) III/1 - Colas Alterra
Budapest Complex Integrated Sewage Project (BKISZ) III/1
Colas Alterra’s participation continues in the complex wastewater disposal network of Budapest.

The scheme affects Districts XXI, XXII and XI of the Hungarian capital, and includes structural construction works, the installation of new equipment, odour control, as well as establishment of a control system on the Csepel link-up, and the conversion of equipment at a number of structures along the same link-up.

The most exciting part of the investment is the pipe jacking operation underneath the Danube’s river bed. The jacked section starts from Buda on the left bank of the river, and proceeds towards the Csepel Island on a 620-m-long section. The jacked DN/ID 1400 reinforced concrete pipe is received in the shaft – a circular reinforced concrete structure itself – set up in Rózsa Street. According to plans, we are to extract the tunnel boring machine from the receiving pit by the end of the year. The completion deadline for the project is March 2016.
