Ferencváros wastewater pump station - Stormwater side
The construction of the sewage-water pump station was still under way when in August 2009 the reconstruction of the storm-water pump station of Ferencváros began. The new station was created in a circular wetland with a diameter of 26 meters, and its pumping range reaches 14 meters deep from the surface. The facilities will be able to lift 24 m3 of storm water into the Danube river by using 10 propeller pumps, which will allow us to avoid using environmentally hazardous technologies as long as precipitation conditions remain normal. Four new bars and a new bridge crane needs to be installed as well during the engineering works.
Facilities constructed during the project:
- a new lift station,
- 5 connecting constructed wetlands, complete reconstruction of the current filter station,
- sealing the old station down by using gates,
- and restoration of the pipeworks in several existing pits.
