North Pest Promenade - Colas Alterra
North Pest Promenade
In 2017, Hungary will host the 17th FINA World Aquatics Championships with Budapest as the event’s central venue. As part of the preparations, a pedestrian and cyclist promenade is being constructed on the left bank of the Danube (Pest) between Kossuth Square and the Dagály Swimming Complex, with the goal of providing a link between the city centre and the brand new swimming arena.Colas Alterra Zrt. and the Local Government of Budapest signed the corresponding contract on 7 October 2016. The project requires us to build a 7-metre-wide walkway and bicycle road, including the landscaping of the adjacent areas and the installation of park furniture. The road itself comprises a 4-metre-wide strip reserved for pedestrians and two 1.25-metre-wide lanes for cyclists. Our contract also specifies the demolition of elements no longer needed, the performance of earthworks, asphalt-laying, the construction of decorative pavement sections and engineering structures. Furthermore, we must build the related surface utilities, and replace missing trees. Landscaping and the installation of railings and park furniture are also among the various duties undertaken by Colas.
