Alterra hands over extended tramline 1

2019. 07. 10..

On 9 July 2019, Budapest mayor István Tarlós officially handed over the renewed section of tramline 1 to passengers.

By completing the 1.7-kilometre long section between Fehérvári Road and Etele Square, we also created the longest, 18.3-kilometre tramline of the Hungarian capital. Construction works on the investment – worth 8.65 billion forints – were carried out by Colas Alterra and Siemens. In addition to the extension of the double-track tramline, new stations were also set up at Bikás Park and Bártfai Street. The new segment finally created a connection between various tramlines, the Kelenföld train station, the M4 subway line, as well as city and intercity bus lines.
