Simultaneously with the jacked sections, we also built some open-ditch segments, where the depth of six metres, the alignment of the sewer, and the location of other public-utility lines represented the greatest difficulties. However, by deploying our well-proven shoring system and machinery, we managed to establish a suitable and safe working environment. Following the completion of jacking operations, the flow of the old channel has to be diverted into the new main collector, which requires every bit of expertise from our colleagues working on the site. According to the plans, a set of heavy-duty pumps will be set up to assist the transfer and put the new structure into operation. The works commenced in the end of summer, and are expected to come to a close by mid-December. Once completed, the client will receive a channel that is set to operate reliably for decades.
