Colas Északkő upgrades fleet of machinery

2013. 09. 10..

Colas Északkő acquired both pieces of equipment within the group: the Metso HP 300 cone crusher was purchased from Colas Polska, while the Liebherr R 954 C crawler excavator arrived from Colas Est, France. The machines worth 30 million forints apiece will aid works in the Nógrádkövesd plant.

Frequent breakdowns of the quarry’s Komatsu PC 750 excavator – commissioned back in 2003, and having clocked over 20 000 hours – hindered production and repairs consumed significant sums from month to month. On our request, Colas Hungária and Colas’ Central European equipment director helped us find a used, but flawless excavator within the Group. We needed a machine capable of loading 40-tonne dump trucks quickly and cost efficiently. The equipment that we came across at Colas Est clocked 8 000 hours, enabling it to fulfil its tasks with us for a further 5-6 years.

The 2005 model year Metso HP 300 crusher has been out of use at Colas Polska for three years when it replaced our 13-year-old Hydrocone 4000 machine. The old crusher won’t be decommissioned: following an overhaul, we are planning to have it installed at Recsk to replace a completely worn-out piece of equipment. The purpose of the investment was to increase the proportion of KZ 8/11 product in the crushed material in contrast with the quantity of KZ 4/8. The previous production rate of 34-22 tonnes/hour for KZ 4/8 – KZ 8/11 was improved to 34-34 tonnes. The overall output of the new crusher is also approximately 10% higher compared to its predecessor.
