The Hungarian Asphalt Pavement Association (HAPA) held its annual international conference on 25-26 February 2013 with the participation of renowned foreign and Hungarian speakers.
The application possibilities of warm mix asphalts (WMA) signified one of the central topics of the conference. On behalf of Colas SA, director Francois Chaignon expounded the experience gained during WMA projects carried out by the Colas Group in France and the USA using foamed bitumen production technologies. Mr. Chaignon also presented continuous quality control test results.
Besides the application of MOL’s rubber bitumen and zeolite products, the Trukish presentation on a new method of aggregate production (“simge challenger”) – promising a number of further advantages in addition to saving energy – proved to be one of the most interesting topics.
Some of our colleagues also held presentations: Colas Út CEO György Zsiga on the experience regarding foamed bitumen production and paving procedures, technical director Zoltán Puchard on various environmental aspects, chief technologist Lajos Balogh on the suitability of raw materials, and chief technology engineer Mária Balogh on an exceptional topic: the construction of concrete motorways.
The conference proved to be an outstanding opportunity to strengthen professional ties and to share results between various production and construction companies, institutions, and government organisations.
