REMOVAL AND RECYCLING
MILLING TECHNOLOGIES
Deep milling: For opening utility routes and pavement demolition
In contrast with the conventional jackhammer-based technology, milling is faster and more cost-efficient. Our milling machines are capable of milling up the pavement and loading it onto trucks in a single work phase. Subsequently, the material can be utilised as base material for road construction purposes. We are willing to undertake deep milling assignments from a width of 100 centimetres.
Fine milling: To improve pavement surface texture, to remove thin layers
On the milling drum located inside the machine, the line spacing of cutting tools is decreased from 15 mm to 8 mm, which makes the resulting surface fine and even-textured. Due to the high quality of fine milling, the technology can be applied to improve surface roughness or to eliminate rutting. In addition, it is also suitable for enhancing cross-slopes, making preparations for the application of surface coatings, and to eliminate waterproofing layers or minor surface unevenness.
Milling to profile: For the correction of pavement cross-slopes, and the layer-by-layer removal of asphalt pavements
Renovation jobs do not require the replacement of the entire pavement structure in every case, and we resort to profile milling to remove one or two layers of asphalt. The degree and direction of cross-slope is set before the milling operation, thus the new pavement can be installed onto a highly-suitable recipient surface.
EASY ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Conventional demolition with jackhammers usually generates large chunks of debris – the after-treatment, haulage, disposal, crushing and grading of such chunks is costly and hinders recycling. Milling enables us to remove the pavement layer-by-layer, and the milled-up materials generated through the procedure are relatively easy to recycle.
RENOVATION AND MAINTENANCE…
As the builders of roads, we have been long aware that the renovation and maintenance of the existing road network is equally important as greenfield investments. In many cases, the renovation of roads has to be preceded by the removal of the worn-out pavement, and this process requires a high degree of technical expertise right from the first steps.
IT STARTS WITH MILLING
Colas Út Zrt. performs milling operations on both concrete and asphalt pavements in first-rate quality, and with state-of-the-art equipment. When it comes to renovating stretches of roads, there site is almost always under traffic. To limit the disruption of traffic to the minimum, we employ highly-prepared crews and reliable pieces of machinery to ensure compliance with the pre-set deadlines.
