RECYCLING OF PAVEMENT LAYERS
A DIFFERENT WAY OF RENOVATIONS
By homogenising existing pavement layers, we can produce a base layer, where the required improving agent is installed after being mixed with binder and water, using a specialised piece of equipment.
From the material of pavement structures in need of renovation, various types of rolled asphalts, cement stabilisation or lean concrete base layers, and macadam base layers up to a particle size of 60 mm can be re-used entirely. As additional improving material, different aggregates, sandy gravels, milled-up asphalt pavements, and sand can be installed. Certain types of cement, foamed bitumen and bitumen emulsion can be applied as binder.
LOAD BEARING RELOADED
The long-term success of the technique can be guaranteed at locations where the load bearing and drainage of earthworks is suitable, and only the load bearing of the old pavement is insufficient. By building a base layer with proper load bearing characteristics and installing one or more asphalt courses, we are capable of creating a durable, eco-friendly and cost-effective pavement structure.
IN-SITU COLD REMIX
The milling, mixing and laying of the pavement structure is performed on the site, with Colas Út’s own Wirtgen 2100, which is a special self-propelled machine equipped with a paving creed.
IN-PLANT COLD REMIX
In case of interventions affecting the earthworks or the geometry of the road, we produce a new base layer by adding binders and additives to the milled-up pavement layers with a KMA mobile mixing plant set up nearby. Subsequently, the material is installed with a normal paver. This technology allows for the reduction of transport distances, and consequently, the reduction of costs.
