Berettyóújfalu-Nagyvárad bicycle road - Colas Út
Berettyóújfalu-Nagyvárad bicycle road
The 22-km-long bike road built by Colas Út starts from Berettyóújfalu and ends at the Hungarian-Romanian border.

With its starting point located in the city centre of Berettyóújfalu, the 22046-m-long road crosses the settlements of Mezőpeterd, Biharkeresztes and Ártánd, leading up to the border. Its width varies between 1.80 and 3.75 metres (with an average of 2.60 metres), depending on local demands and physical limitations.

On an approximately 500-metre-long stretch, the bicycle road runs along a Natura 2000 protected area, which requires exceptional care and attention from both ourselves and our subcontractors.

The pavement structure of the new road is composed of a single asphalt layer on sandy gravel frost protection and crushed stone base layers, while shoulders are mechanically stabilised.

Construction works entail the relocation of gas lines, cable TV and power cables. Rainwater drainage also represents one of the major work phases, and is solved with paved ditches and gutters. Furthermore, oil trap structures are to be installed near the Natura 2000 area in order to ensure a more efficient protection of the environment.
