Construction works for the newest mixing plant of Colas Út have recently come to an end. The project was launched in March 2016, and we began with landscaping and foundation works in the spring. The structure of the mixing machine had been assembled by the end of May. In early June, this was followed by linking up the power cables, setting up the Benninghoven’s controls, testing the complete system and making preparations for trial mixing.
The operational trials of the Benninghoven TBA 2000 mixing plant – capable of churning out 160 tonnes of asphalt per hour – have been completed, allowing production to commence at our newest mixing site. As a special feature, the Kéthely asphalt mixing plant is set to become the company’s first Hungarian facility to solve heating by burning coal powder.
Main equipment of the plant includes eight hoppers, three electrically heated bitumen storage tanks with a capacity of 60 cubic metres each, a feeder silo and a dust silo, four product bins with a combined capacity of 372 tonnes, and a 118 cubic metre coal powder silo. Naturally, such a sophisticated mixing site would be unimaginable without having a recycling system in place.
We intend to commission the new plant as soon as possible, as the location is of high strategic importance, and our target for the second half of the year is the production of 20,000 tonnes of asphalt.
