The goal of the project is to modernise the north-south traffic corridor from the Hatvan off-ramp of the motorway to Szolnok, and to reinforce the pavement to withstand greater loads. Meanwhile, a new bicycle road will be established alongside the road, and a multi-level railway crossing is also to be built at chainage 9+332. The project was divided into a number of smaller tenders – the first of those was announced by the National Infrastructure Development Agency for the section between chainages 0+491 and 10+478. The corresponding public procurement procedure was won by Colas Út Zrt. We managed to kick off operations on 4 August, while the works are expected to come to a close by 28 May 2015.
The job involves pavement widening and reinforcement on a total of 6.7 kilometres. We completed the works up to base layer level in 2014, to be followed by binding and wearing courses in the first quarter of the upcoming year. In order to accomplish those objectives, we decided to mobilise three paving teams simultaneously.
Furthermore, Colas Hungária Zrt. undertook bridge construction works for the multi-level crossing. The new overpass will span the Szolnok-Hatvan railway line in a height of 8.65 metres. By the end of the year, the alignment correction of the railway line – built onto 2 km of new embankments – required for the new crossing should be completed up to earthwork level.
